Salary: £30000 - £40000
Location: Cottenham, Cambridge
You will be required to design, develop and maintain electrical control systems for industrial automation equipment/machinery. Work to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability. Working in a multi-disciplinary team you will be involved in projects from the concept and detail of the design through to implementation, testing and handover. You may also be involved in maintenance programmes.
Typical Work Activities Include:
- Identifying customer requirements/project plans
- Reading and understanding design specifications and technical drawings
- Designing electrical control systems, for products and machinery
- Producing electrical schematics and drawings (AutoCAD electrical)
- Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales
- Developing test rigs, models and prototype control systems
- Working to BS and EN standards, IEE 17th edition, EMC, CE, and harmonised standards
- Maintaining Huxley Bertram electrical standards
- Wiring control panels and machinery
- Liaising with others in the design team, clients and contractors
- Attending meetings onsite
- Testing and qualifying the final product or system
- Recording, analysing and interpreting test data
- Proposing modifications and retesting products
- Preparing product documentation, writing reports and giving demonstrations/presentations
- Procuring parts and managing budgets
Requirements:
- Educated to HND/HNC/City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Experience with automation, product handling, or special purpose machinery
- Ability to read, understand and produce electrical drawings
- Electrical wiring skills
- The willingness to travel nationally and internationally
- Full UK driving licence
- PLC programming experience would be beneficial
