Help us Rescue Bea & Coco!
2011-11-17 10:30:37
As you may be aware, Kelly has been volunteering with MONA-UK since 2007; she urges you to help Coco and Bea who have been living for more than twenty years in a private residence in the north of Spain. We do not know a huge amount about their past except that Coco was bought from a pet shop and Bea, a local circus.
Due to the tell tale signs of psychological damage, it is likely that Bea and Coco have lived through traumatic events. Most chimpanzees who are used for ‘entertainment’ are caught in the wild, many having lived through watching their mother, or perhaps their entire families, being killed before their eyes.

Crude training methods commonly used in training chimpanzees for entertainment, like physical intimidation and beatings, will also have played a part in these two girls emotional state and much work will need to be done to teach them how to be chimpanzees.

Rehabilitation will be long and expensive, we can't let Coco and Bea down! We urgently need to raise funds to cover the costs of their integration into a stable family group. This will include a full-time caregiver who will work with the girls to help them through what can be a very traumatic process for frightened chimpanzees who have never experienced life in a group before.
Will you help Coco and Bea learn how to become chimpanzees? Please donate either using JustGiving, Paypal or simply text MONA42 and the amount that you would like to donate (e.g £3, £7, £15) to 70070. MONA is run almost entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers, every penny really does mean the world to us and these animals in need.
Thank you for doing whatever you can do to help.
