Highest Levels of Ethics
In our profession, the highest levels of ethics and professional conduct are vital to establish trust with
clients and candidates.
Furthermore, in the past few years a multitude of studies within the business community have indicated that organisations that act in a socially responsible manner, following irreproachable ethical standards will in the long-run outperform companies who adopt a "profits no matter what" approach and will stay in business longer.
The industry's standards for recruiters, as laid out in the IRP's Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, represent a frame of reference for anyone serious about delivering honest and transparent recruitment practices.
Whilst businesses are driven by and pursue commercial ends, more and more clients will make decisions taking into account the social responsibility aspect of their decision. For example, clients tell us that they'll only select a recruitment services provider who is affiliated with the industry's trade body and who has a proven track record of commitment to a Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. If there is a tendering process involved, this is often a non-negotiable requirement.
The value of membership and standards has never been more important: that is because there is an increasing realisation that only honest and transparent business creates trust, safeguard reputations and protect brand values. In the time where corporations guard these with their lives, there is an immediately apparent need from clients to ensure that their supplier is selected based on solid criteria and an immediate value to adhering the standards.
Businesses often take several steps to create an atmosphere of trust and loyalty within their organisation: reporting financial results with total clarity and transparency, selecting suppliers carefully, sharing wealth with all employees fairly, supporting the local community and fostering an emotionally intelligent culture in the workplace and establishing and upholding the highest standards in customer relations play a key role. With this in mind, IRP standards provide a common platform for all involved in the recruitment process, to operate with integrity and benchmark against best practice.
